Introduction

There’s another medersa with the same name in Meknes, but this is the more famous one. Unfortunately, that also means that it’s filled with other tourists trying to see it as well. Despite the crowds, I loved the tiling and ornate stucco work inside the medersa.

About

The medersa was built in the 1300s and is considered an excellent example of Marinid architecture. It was founded by sultan Abu Inan Faris, whom it was named after. It’s the only medersa in Fes that features a minaret. At one time, it was named the Grand Mosque of Morocco.
