Introduction

This is the last madrasa that I visited in Morocco, but it was also one of the most impressive. I loved the tiling, the stucco work, and the many areas that were open to explore. It’s right near several other sites, including the Marrakesh Museum, and is easy to group together with several other stops.

About

The Ben Youssef Madrasa was built in the 1500s and is the largest in all of Morocco. At it’s peak, it could have taught around 900 students at one time. It was closed in 1960, but opened to the public in the 80s as a tourist attraction.
