1. Chellah Necropolis
Just a short cab ride outside the walls of Rabat, you can find the Chellah Necropolis, a sprawling site of ruins from the 13th century. You could spend hours here admiring the old arches, minarets, and rooms. This was one of my favorite sites in the entire country! See more HERE.

2. Mohammed V Mausoleum
One of Morocco’s more recently built structures, the Mausoleum was completed in the 1970s and is considered a masterpiece. The carvings and zelij tiles are truly stunning, and it’s pretty easy to get to. See more HERE.

3. Hassan Tower
Right across from the Mausoleum is the Hassan Tower, one of Rabat’s most famous sites. See more HERE.

4. Kasbah of the Udayas + Andalusian Gardens
The Kasbah outside the walls of the Rabat’s medina was built in the 12th century, and includes the Andalusian Gardens next door. The inside of the Kasbah looks similar to the streets of Chefchaouen and is a great place for exploring. See more HERE.

5. Shop in the Souks
Smaller, but much more low-key than the souks in Fes or Marrakesh, the souks of Rabat are a great place for relaxed shopping and people watching. See more HERE.
